Clap Your Hands Say Yeah returns for new fall shows

Indie rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will hit the festival circuit and also work in a few headlining shows early this fall as they continue to back their latest studio set.

Following an Aug. 4 appearance at Chicago's Lollapalooza, the Brooklyn band will lay low for about a month, then launch a headlining run Sept. 11 in New York. Alt-rockers Elvis Perkins in Dearland will open each of the headlining shows, which resume Sept. 18 in West Hollywood following a trio of festival appearances. The full schedule is included below.

Pre-sales for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah 's non-festival shows are currently available through the band's official website.

Released in January, "Some Loud Thunder" follows the group's self-titled 2005 debut. A pair of songs from the new set, "Love Song No. 7" and "Underwater (You and Me)," are available as free mp3 downloads from the group's site.

As was the case with the band's debut album, CYHSY released "Thunder" without the backing of a record label. According to the group, the first album sold 200,000 copies and prompted several offers from big labels, all of which the band turned down.

"It was definitely a calculated risk," the band's drummer, Sean Greenlagh, told a CBS News reporter in May, "but we felt like we had everything in place to do it ourselves."

The group hired its own manufacturer, distributor and marketing company to produce both of the albums, according to Greenlagh.
