The Used cancels Warped run
Alt-rockers The Used have been forced to drop off the Vans Warped Tour because frontman Bert McCracken is undergoing vocal cord surgery.
The band was scheduled to play the first couple weeks of the trek, which kicks off Friday (6/29) in Pomona, CA.
McCracken developed a node on one of his vocal cords and doctors have recommended treatment and rest without singing for about five weeks, according to a press release. A full recovery is expected.
"[Warped founder] Kevin Lyman and the Van's Warped tour have been amazing supporters of our band and we are truly saddened that we won't be able to perform on this year's tour," guitarist Quinn Allman said in a statement.
The disappointed bandmates plan to return to the road in September for a headlining tour of the US.
The Utah-based quartet has been out this year supporting its third album, "Lies for the Liars," which debuted in the Top 5 of The Billboard 200 when it surfaced in May. The set's latest single, "The Bird and the Worm," is currently making waves at modern-rock radio, and the follow-up track, "Pretty Handsome Awkward," is on deck. Both are streaming at The Used's website.
Meanwhile, the 45-date Warped Tour is set to head out with more than 80 bands in tow, including tour regulars Bad Religion and a host of old school, emo, punk, screamo and hip-hop acts. The full lineup can be found at the Warped Tour's website. The itinerary is listed below.
