Ben Kweller to tour through the summer
Singer/songwriter Ben Kweller will launch his summer tour with a trio of New York shows where he'll play each of his three solo albums in full on consecutive nights.
The Texas-bred performer will also hold down opening duties for alt-rockers Guster on a stretch of their heading tour in late June, kicking off July 20 in Detroit. Following the Guster dates, Kweller will take up residence in Brooklyn's Soutpaw nightclub, where he'll perform all three of his album's on back-to-back-to-back nights: Kweller's 2002 debut "Sha Sha" on July 30; 2004's "On My Way" on July 31; and last year's eponymous "Ben Kweller" on Aug. 1.
Fans who order a three-day pass good for all of the Brooklyn shows will also receive access to a private party with Kweller and his band. More information is available on the singer's website.
Following the New York shows, Kweller will hit the southern part of the country on a tour that runs through the end of August. The singer's complete schedule is listed below.
"Ben Kweller," the singer's third album as a solo artist since leaving his original band, Radish , in the late '90s, was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters). The disc surfaced in stores last September.
Vocalist/guitarist/pianist Kweller first became widely known as the frontman of Radish when he was just 16 years old. That band--hyped as the next Nirvana--signed to Mercury Records after a frenzied bidding war amongst major labels, but its 1997 debut, "Restraining Bolt," didn't strike a nerve with the public or with critics. The group never released a follow-up album, and broke up by the end of the decade.
