Arcade Fire plants first seeds for fall tour
Arcade Fire has announced a pair of September US dates, the first indication of more extensive fall tour plans that the band is expected to reveal soon.
The two dates--Sept. 17 in suburban Denver and Sept. 20 in Los Angeles--will follow the Canadian indie-rockers' Sept. 15 appearance at the Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, TX; the band also plans to tape a performance that weekend for later airing on the long-running "Austin City Limits" TV program.
According to the band's publicist, Arcade Fire will announce a more complete tour schedule soon, with dates stretching through early October. LCD Soundsystem will support on all shows during the fall leg.
Arcade Fire is touring behind its second studio album, "Neon Bible," which surfaced in March and peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200. The Montreal-based band recorded the self-produced set in a small church outside of its hometown.
"After trying to decide if we should work with any producers, we kind of realized that we already know how we want things to sound so we should just run after that sound as fast as [we] can and not rely on someone else to guide the good ship Arcade Fire," frontman Win Butler said in a posting at the band's website.
"Neon Bible" is the follow-up to Arcade Fire's critically acclaimed 2004 debut, "Funeral," which earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Rock Album.
