Toby Keith breaks out the Big Dog this week
About a dozen shows have been added to Toby Keith 's Big Dog Daddy Tour ahead of its Thursday (6/21) kick off.
The country superstar is set to launch the trek in Birmingham, AL, and play amphitheaters and festivals all over the US through September. He'll cross the border July 20 to perform at Bayfest 2007 in Sarnia, Ontario. Recent additions to the itinerary include cities in Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, New Mexico and Arizona. Details are listed below.
Singer/songwriter Miranda Lambert and country band Flynnville Train will open the tour.
Keith is out supporting his new album, "Big Dog Daddy," which surfaced June 12. The set has spawned radio hit "High Maintenance Woman" (the fastest-selling single of Keith's career) and latest single "Love Me If You Can," samples of which are streaming at Keith's MySpace page.
Keith gets back to the basics of country music on "Big Dog Daddy," his most hands-on album to date. The set is his second record on his own Show Dog Nashville label and marks the first time he's acted as sole producer.
The new album follows last year's "White Trash With Money," which became Keith's 12th career platinum album. He also had seven cuts on the soundtrack for the 2006 film "Broken Bridges," in which he made his acting debut.
Known for his hard-charging work ethic, Keith has sold upwards of 30 million albums during his career. He's also got a slew of accolades under his belt, including three BMI Songwriter of the Year trophies and several Academy of Country Music Awards.
In addition to wearing the hats of musician, label executive and actor, Keith also runs his own restaurant chain, Toby Keith 's I Love This Bar & Grill.
