Wolf Parade maps summer tour, returns to the studio
Canadian indie rockers Wolf Parade will put their various side projects on hiatus to regroup for a headlining tour later this summer.
The band will tackle 20 dates stretching from mid-August to mid-September, kicking off Aug. 11 in Kingston, Ontario, and including a newly announced West Coast run that begins Sept. 6 in Vancouver. The group's full schedule is listed below.
"Apologies to the Queen Mary," the band's debut album, hit stores in late 2005, following quickly on the heels of a self-titled EP released in July of that year. The band, which formed in 2002, quickly gained a word-of-mouth following after its frequent exposure on CBC radio, which led to its signing with Sub Pop in 2004.
Since "Apologies," the band has been mostly silent regarding future recording plans, but word of a new studio album began to surface earlier this year.
Handsome Furs, Boeckner's side project with his fiancee, Alexei Perry, released its debut album, "Plague Park," in May. Additionally, vocalist/keyboardist Spencer Krug's own pre-Wolf Parade project, Sunset Rubdown, is scheduled to release its third full-length, "Random Spirit Lover," in October, the first fruit of the band's new recording deal with the Jagjaguwar label.
