Godsmack rocks into late summer
Alt-metal rockers Godsmack have extended their US tour into August.
The Boston-based band, which has been traipsing across the eastern half of the country since early May, will make its way West next month. The itinerary is listed below. Godsmack will also play in Puerto Rico July 14; details about that concert can be found at the band's website.
The group continues to support its fourth studio album, "Godsmack IV," which debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 in April 2006 and has produced hit singles "Speak," "Shine Down" and "The Enemy."
The record follows Godsmack's 2004 acoustic EP, "The Other Side," and its platinum-selling 2003 studio release, "Faceless."
Meanwhile, the band is planning to commemorate its 10-year anniversary with a box set comprising its four studio albums, the EP and a DVD featuring mini-documentaries about the making of each album, according to Billboard. The mag said there would also be some live footage, since the band has been taping all of its concerts since 2004.
When Godsmack finishes its current outing, drummer Shannon Larkin, guitarist Tony Rombola and bassist Robbie Merrill plan to launch a side project with former Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane, Billboard reported. The band, Another Animal, may release a single before summer's end followed by an album this fall. Larkin assured the publication that the side project will not affect Godsmack's future.
