Kelly Willis 'Translates' new album, tou
Alt-country singer/songwriter Kelly Willis has mapped out a headlining tour to coincide with the late June release of her latest album, "Translated From Love."
The singer will kick off her outing the night of the album's release, June 26, in her adopted hometown of Austin, TX. The following night, Willis will appear with Merle Haggard in Little Rock, AR, as she continues on a 21-city trek that will keep her busy into October. The full schedule is listed below.
"Translated From Love" is the singer's first solo effort since 2002's "Easy," and immediately follows last year's "Happy Holidays," a Christmas-themed effort with her husband, singer/songwriter Bruce Robison.
The new album was produced by longtime Willis collaborator Chuck Prophet.
"The whole experience was surprising at every turn and challenging, too, doing some material that might not be what people expect out of me," Willis said in a press release. "I was able to get some songs written that I am proud of and excited about and that give the album some of its depth and personality and soul."
"We cooked up a cool record," Prophet said in the release. "Wrote a mess of songs. We got all 'housewife goth' with it--gingham aprons and bad blood."
