Briefly: Prince, Martina McBride, Jordin Sparks, Monolith Festival, Godsmack
Verizon Wireless subscribers armed with a properly equipped phone can follow a series of steps, after which they'll be able to download "Guitar" for free, according to a press release. Additional details are available at Verizon Wireless' music website.
Prince, who currently doesn't have a record label, is expected to offer up "Planet Earth" this summer. A release date for the set, which follows last year's "3121," has not been announced.
NBC has tapped Martina McBride and "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks--as well as "Idol" runners-up Blake Lewis and Melinda Doolittle --to perform during the network's live broadcast of its annual "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular," according to a press release. The one-hour program is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. EST.
Turbonegro, Editors, Art Brut, Au Revoir Simone, Matt & Kim, William Elliott Whitmore, Rocky Votolato, Vienna Teng, Tim Barry, De Novo Dahl, Cameron McGill and Mason Proper have joined the ranks of the artists who will perform at this September's Monolith Festival.
As previously reported, the event--which is set to take place Sept. 14-15 at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre--will also include performances from The Flaming Lips, Cake, The Decemberists, Kings of Leon, Spoon, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and others. More information is available at the festival's website.
Rockers Godsmack plan to mark their 10th anniversary with a box set that will include all four of the band's full-length studio albums, the acoustic EP "The Other Side," live cuts and a DVD that documents the making of each album, Billboard reports.
