Linkin Park's new album logs year's top opening week
Fans snapped up 623,000 copies of Linkin Park 's "Minutes to Midnight" during the album's first week in US stores, the highest debut-week sales total so far of 2007.
The rockers easily outpaced R&B singer Tank 's "Sex, Love & Pain," which sold 103,000 copies to debut in the No. 2 slot on The Billboard 200 album chart. Michael Buble 's "Call Me Irresponsible," last week's No. 1 album, sinks to No. 3 with sales of 88,000.
Wilco 's "Sky Blue Sky" enters the chart at No. 4 with 87,000 copies sold, according to Billboard, which bases its chart on Nielsen SounsScan retail reports. Gretchen Wilson 's "One of the Boys" enters the chart at No. 5.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing," Ne Yo's "Because of You," Megadeth's "United Abominations," Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "Strength & Loyalty" and Daughtry's self-titled debut.
