Montgomery Gentry, LeAnn Rimes highlight Hannity concerts
Conservative radio and TV host Sean Hannity has revealed the roster for his annual series of "Freedom Concerts," with country duo Montgomery Gentry headlining shows in five cities.
Fellow country singer LeAnn Rimes will join the headliners at the tour's New Jersey and Cincinnati stops, while Lee Greenwood (whose "God Bless the USA" is considered a patriotic standard by conservatives) will appear at all five stops.
Hannity will also appear during the shows, along with retired Marine Lt. Col and current TV/radioshow host Oliver North, and various radio personalities from stations sponsoring each stop along the tour. The run will culminate in Jackson, NJ, on the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The tour aims to raise money for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund for the Children of America's Fallen Heroes.
"Many of freedom’s brave defenders, who have lost their lives fighting terrorism, have left behind young children," Hannity and North wrote in a joint statement on the event's website. "In a few short years, they will embark upon their college education. Through the continued generosity of patriotic Americans, the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund will help these deserving young students, reminding them that their parents’ sacrifice will never be forgotten by a grateful nation."
