Peter Frampton puts 'Fingerprints' on tour
Arena-rock icon Peter Frampton will launch a lengthy summer tour at the end of May, fresh off his February Grammy win for his latest album, "Fingerprints."
The British singer/guitarist--who nabbed the award for Best Pop Instrumental Album for his 2006 studio effort--will hit over 50 cities during an sizeable outing that kicks off May 26 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and stretches across six months until slowing to a close in mid-October. The guitar slinger will hit a variety of venues on the trek, including casinos, state fairs, large clubs and small theaters. A full listing of shows is included below.
Released last September, "Fingerprints" is Frampton's first-ever all-instrumental album. "This is the CD I've been waiting to make all my life," the performer said in a press release. "Every track has been a wonderful challenge, pushing me to raise my own bar again and again."
Several big names make appearance on the disc, including Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts and former Stones bassist Bill Wyman on the original "Cornerstones," and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Matt Cameron on a cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun."
In April, two of Frampton's mid-period solo efforts--1979's "Where I Should Be" and 1981's "Breaking All the Rules"--were re-released in digitally remastered versions. Neither disc had previously been released on CD.
Frampton is best known for his 1976 live set, "Frampton Comes Alive!" The album--which featured the singles "Baby I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do"--rocketed to the top of the album chart, and is the top-selling live rock album ever.
