Breaking Benjamin stretches summer with headlining trek
Alt-rock band Breaking Benjamin has added a run of June/July headlining shows to its itinerary following its co-headline jaunt with Three Days Grace , which launches tonight (5/11) in Glen Falls, NY.
The co-headline outing, which also features Puddle of Mudd and Red , sticks primarily to the eastern half of the US before heading West for the final few dates in late June. After that, Breaking Benjamin will head off on its own for five shows each in California and Texas, plus gigs in Atlanta and Myrtle Beach, SC. Details are listed below.
Breaking Benjamin is supporting its third set, "Phobia," which was released in August and peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. Band frontman Ben Burnley said he challenged himself while writing and recording the album.
"I'm doing things vocally that I haven't done before and we're using different time signatures and tunings that are new for us," Burnley said in a press release. "I look at evolution this way: Every time you write a song, it's one less thing that you can do. Of course, there is always pressure to at least match what you've done before, but there is nothing I can do about it other than write the best possible songs I can."
Last month, the band put out a collector's edition of "Phobia" featuring a DVD with live footage from a concert at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA--Breaking Benjamin's old stomping grounds.
The video for the album's latest single, "Breath" (the band's first No. 1 song), is taken from the Stabler Arena performance. It is streaming at Breaking Benjamin's website and MySpace page.
"Phobia" follows Breaking Benjamin's platinum-selling 2004 release, "We Are Not Alone," which spawned hit singles "So Cold" and "Sooner or Later."
