Ne-Yo sets spring/summer tour behind new album
Buoyed by the second chart-topping album of his career with the recently released "Because of You," soul crooner Ne-Yo will mount a late-spring/early summer tour.
The R&B singer will kick off his summer plans May 31 in Norfolk, VA, before moving on to a pair of radio-station festival appearances at big arenas in early June. The bulk of the tour, set to run through early July, takes place in large clubs and small theaters, with a few detours through summer festivals and theme parks.
The complete schedule is included below.
Released on the first day of May, "Because of You" followed in the footsteps of its predecessor--Ne-Yo's 2006 debut, "In My Own Words"--by debuting in the No. 1 slot on The Billboard 200 chart. According to the singer's publicist, the album sold more than 200,000 copies during its first week out.
Ne-Yo (born Shaffer Smith) found a quick ramp to early success. The Las Vegas-bred singer entered the music business initially as a songwriter, penning material for boy band Youngstown and R&B singer Mario. His "Let Me Love You," performed by the latter, emerged as one of the most-played songs on urban radio in 2004.
