Michael Buble reveals 'Irresponsible' trek
With his brand new album just out, jazz/pop singer Michael Buble has unveiled a sampling of dates for his summer tour of the US.
So far, two-night stands have been announced in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Those shows are listed below. The rest of the itinerary will be revealed May 9 at Buble's website.
The 31-year-old Canadian singer, who has drawn comparisons to legendary crooners Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, also has a major tour of Europe on the books beginning in October, details for which can be found at his website, as well.
Buble's third studio set, "Call Me Irresponsible," hit stores May 1. After selling 11 million copies of his first two albums and scoring two Grammy nominations, the singer was feeling the pressure.
"Terrified," was the way he described his state of mind in a press release, "because I knew that it had to be better than the first two--that it had to show growth without alienating anyone--and that’s a tough line."
Buble took a hands-on approach to make sure every detail met with his approval.
"I even ended up at the mastering session, which artists rarely attend," he said. "I wanted to be involved in every aspect because I wanted it to be conceptually beautiful."
Buble calls the 13-song collection "my remark on the state of love." The record comprises jazz standards including "The Best is Yet to Come," "I've Got the World on a String," and a gospel version of Sinatra's "That's Life," along with covers of Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" and Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." It also introduces two new originals including the lead single, "Everything," which is streaming at Buble's MySpace page.
"Call Me Irresponsible" follows Buble's platinum-selling 2005 set, "It's Time," which has remained on The Billboard Traditional Jazz charts for two years. The album earned four Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys).
