Robin Thicke continues 'Evolution' trek
Having just scored platinum status with his latest album, R&B/soulman Robin Thicke is keeping the momentum going, playing another round of dates in the coming months.
Thicke will criss-cross the US in May, playing club gigs and a host of radio shows. In June, he'll stop by New York City's Radio City Music Hall for a concert with Jill Scott and Chaka Khan, and will also perform at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans July 6. Details are listed below.
The artist's latest release, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke," surfaced in October and burst into the Top 10 on The Billboard 200 album chart, as well as the magazine's R&B album chart. He recently performed his No. 1 urban/adult contemporary radio hit, "Lost Without U," on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and is scheduled to sing the tune on FOX's "American Idol" May 2.
"Lost Without U" is streaming at Thicke's MySpace page along with a couple of other songs from the album. A video snippet from his next single, "Can U Believe," is streaming at his website, and will be shown there in its entirety beginning May 3.
Earlier this year, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" was nominated for a Soul Train Award in the Best Soul/R&B Album category. The set follows 2003's "A Beautiful World," which was released under the singer's previous stage name, Thicke.
The son of actor Alan Thicke and singer/soap star Gloria Loring, Thicke is a self-taught pianist and a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer. At age 16, with no formal training, he began writing and producing music for artists including Brandy and Brian McKnight, according to his bio. He has since amassed dozens of gold and platinum albums with the likes of Usher, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera.
