Lyle Lovett, K.D. Lang team up for summer tour
With no new product to promote and a long summer ahead of them, singer/songwriters K.D. Lang and Lyle Lovett have decided to link up for an extensive joint tour.
The veteran pair will play separate sets and be backed onstage by their respective touring units--Lovett's Large Band and Lang's backing quartet--during the outing, which kicks off June 13 in West Palm Beach, FL. The tour will hit more than 30 cities and is expected to run through the end of July. Full details are included below.
Lovett, who takes his time between albums, offered up "My Baby Don't Tolerate" in September of 2003. The disc, which is his inaugural--and, thus far, only--set for Lost Highway Records, marks his first collection of original solo material since 1996's "The Road to Ensenada."
"My Baby Don't Tolerate" earned a 2004 Grammy nomination for Best Male Country Album, and its title track was up for Best Male Country Vocal Performance that same year; the cut "In My Own Mind" was nominated in the 2005 Grammy category for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Lang's last studio album was 2004's "Hymns of the 49th Parallel," which featured covers of songs originally sung by various natives of the singer's home country of Canada, including material by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen.
Last year, Lang released her first-ever compilation, "Reintarnation," which collected 20 of her biggest hits on one disc.
