Briefly: Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Willie Nelson, Crowded House

Carrie Underwood , Kelly Clarkson , Celine Dion , Gwen Stefani, Pink, Josh Groban, Il Divo, Rascal Flatts and Earth, Wind & Fire are scheduled to appear on tonight's (4/25) "American Idol" charity special, "Idol Gives Back."

The show, which comedian Ellen DeGeneres will host, will also feature U2 frontman Bono, who will appear on behalf of ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty history. The six remaining "American Idol" finalists are scheduled to sing "American Prayer," a song Bono and Dave Stewart wrote about the AIDS crisis in Africa.

Underwood, a former "American Idol" contestant, will be featured in a pre-recorded segment that shows her recent trip to Africa, during which she and three members of her band visited and played for schools, orphanages, hospices and healthcare centers in and around Johannesburg. The show will also feature footage of a recent visit "Idol" judge Simon Cowell and show host Ryan Seacrest made to Africa.

The "Idol Gives Back" special aims to raise awareness and funds for the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF), which distributes money to other organizations. More information is available at the "Idol Gives Back" website, through which users can make donations.

Country legend Willie Nelson and his tour manager, who last year were issued citations after Louisiana state police said they found marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms aboard Nelson's tour bus, have avoided jail time via a plea agreement.

According to published reports, Nelson and tour manager David Anderson were fined $1,024 each and sentenced to six months probation in exchange for pleading guilty Monday (4/24) to a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession.

After leaving the courthouse, Nelson reportedly signed autographs and posed for pictures with a small crowd of fans who had gathered outside after learning he was in town for the legal proceeding.

Reunited Aussie popsters Crowded House have unveiled a July 10 North American release date for "Time On Earth," the group's first new studio album in 14 years. The set features group co-founders Neil Finn and Nick Seymour, along with former member Mark Hart and new drummer Matt Sherrod.

As previously reported, the band--which, more than 10 years ago, played what it billed at the time as its final show--will hit the stage at this weekend's Coachella festival in Indio, CA. Additional tour dates are in the works, according to a press release.

"It feels right to us that the band should re-emerge at this time and we look forward to reconnecting with the audience that we established and for whom we still hold a deep respect," Finn said in a prepared statement. "We aim to make the upcoming shows and the new music as vital and spirited as what has come before."
