Martina McBride laughs her way across the US

Martina McBride , who just launched a major US tour to support her new album, "Waking Up Laughing," continues to add more dates to the fold.

The country star will play the first show of a two-night stand this evening (4/13) in Rosemont, IL, and continue her cross-country trek through mid-August, hitting a number of festivals and fairs along the way. Dates are listed below.

Breakout acts Little Big Town and Rodney Atkins will open most dates, with Diamond Rio joining McBride for a few shows June 22-24.

"Waking Up Laughing," which hit stores April 3, marks McBride's first time serving as producer, writer and artist. Her ninth set follows the platinum-selling "Timeless," a collection of country classics that represented the singer's first effort as a solo producer.

The new record's debut cut, "Anyway," has become the fastest-rising single of McBride's career, according to a press release. The song is streaming at her MySpace page.

In addition to touring, McBride has been on a media blitz lately, appearing on a slew of television talk shows. Currently, she has a feature in OK Magazine, and will show up this month in Parade Magazine as well as on the CMT Awards show and Fox-TV's "American Idol." In May, she has plans to perform on the NBC "Today Show" Summer Concert Series and will attend the ACM Awards ceremony, where she is vying for Top Female Vocalist. ABC-TV's "Primetime" will do a special on the star in June.

To date, McBride has sold more than 16 million albums and charted 22 Top 10 singles, according to her website. The four-time Country Music Association Vocalist of the Year has been a steady presence on country charts since 1993.
