Bloc Party returns for another round of US shows
Indie rockers Bloc Party will make another return to the US later this spring, with stops planned in a few places the band wasn't able to visit after its drummer was hospitalized last fall.
Drummer Matt Tong suffered a collapsed lung following the band's performance in Atlanta last November, forcing the group to pull out of a co-headlining tour with Panic! At The Disco. Although these new shows (and the ones the group played earlier this year) aren't official make-up dates, the band seems to be making an effort to visit US locations it missed last year.
The trek will cover three weeks and 14 cities, kicking off May 27 in Pompano Beach, FL. Opening support for the shows will come from fellow indie rockers Noisettes and The Maccabees. Details are included below.
Bloc Party is backing its February release, "A Weekend in the City," which follows its 2005 full-length debut, "Silent Alarm." The new album debuted at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 album chart with 48,000 copies sold in its first week of US release.
Several cuts from the new album, including its latest single, "I Still Remember," are streaming at the band's MySpace page.
