Chicago and America team for US trek
The outing also has Chicago and America stopping off in New York City June 22 to perform for NBC's Today Show Summer Concert Series.
Both bands are in the midst of their own separate tours, as well. Chicago began traversing the US in early March, and has dates booked through late July. Details are available at Chicago's website. America opened a world tour last month that will make its way through the US, Canada, Australia, the Philippines and Singapore through March 2008. Those shows can be found at America's website.
Chicago--including founding members Robert Lamm, Walter Parazaider, Lee Loughnane and James Pankow-- is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Last year, the band released its 30th album, appropriately titled "XXX," marking its first set of new material in 10 years. The Grammy-winning group has sold more than 120 million albums and racked up 50 hits in the US, including five No. 1 singles, according to Chicago's website. To date, Chicago is the first American band to chart Top 40 albums in five decades, according to a press release.
America, made up of duo Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, is also in its fourth decade of making music. The group is supporting its January release, "Here & Now"--a double CD package that includes America's first new material in more than 20 years alongside a disc of classic hits. The mellow rockers have earned six gold and/or platinum albums and a Grammy during their career, according to a bio.
