Sheryl Crow joins 'Stop Global Warming' campus tour
Sheryl Crow and global warming activist Laurie David are teaming up for the Stop Global Warming College Tour, a trek that aims "to urge college students to become part of the movement and demand solutions for themselves, their schools and their country," according to a press release.
The college tour--which will travel in a bus using bio-diesel fuel-- opens April 9 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and will continue on to 10 additional universities across the southeastern United States. The tour concludes April 22 at Washington, DC's George Washington University, where additional special guests will join Crow and David for a celebration of Earth Day.
During the jaunt, patrons will be encouraged to join the Stop Global Warming Virtual March. More than 675,000 marchers from the United States have joined the virtual march so far, according to organizers.
"History proves that college students have the ability to be the driving force in large-scale social change and now--more than ever--is the time for students across the country to become global warming activists," Laurie David, founder of stopglobalwarming.org and author of Stop Global Warming: The Solution is You!, said in a press release.
The 90-minute presentations will include remarks by David, a short performance by Crow, segments of the Al Gore climate-change documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," clips from comedians, and a dialog with students.
"The more I learn about global warming, the more I know that we all have to do something to be a part of the solution," Crow said in a press release. "I am thrilled Laurie and I have the opportunity to go on the road and combine our efforts to educate the next generation on how they can make a difference."
A website will provide day-to-day coverage of the tour, offering exclusive behind-the-scenes video, interviews from the road, posts from an embedded blogger and solutions that consumers can use to combat global warming.
