Bob Weir's Ratdog teams with Keller Williams
Jam band Bob Weir & Ratdog will join forces with one-man jammer Keller Williams in July for a US tour that will see the musicians playing separately and together.
The outing will cross the country beginning July 7 in Atlanta, GA. At the moment, dates are scheduled through July 28, but more are expected, according to a press release. Confirmed shows are listed below.
Weir, a founding member of the Grateful Dead, appears as a guest on Williams' February release, "Dream." The album, Williams' ninth studio effort, pairs the usually one-man band with a dream team of performers, including Bela Fleck, John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, Victor Wooten, the String Cheese Incident and Steve Kimock, to name a few. A couple of songs from the record, including the Williams/Weir duet "Cadillac," are streaming at Williams' MySpace page.
The solo musician, known for his acoustic guitar prowess, said it was very humbling to work with such great musicians.
"To be honest, I wasn't really thinking about public opinion for this record," Williams said in a bio posted at his website. "Mostly, I just wanted to be able to crank these songs up in my pimped-out golf cart when I'm 80. Some of these artists are living legends and will be appreciated long after we're gone."
Williams is currently on the road, playing shows across the US leading up to his tour with Weir. Those dates can be found at his website.
Bob Weir & Ratdog also have a couple of dates on the West Coast this month and will play June's Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN, as well as the Gathering of the Vibes fest in August. More information is available at Ratdog's website.
