Briefly: Nine Inch Nails, Barbra Streisand, Mavis Staples, Sinead O'Connor
Trent Reznor is giving Nine Inch Nails fans a chance to make their own remixes of his group's latest single, and has also rolled out dates for a European tour behind the band's soon-to-be-released album.
Titled "Year Zero," the forthcoming disc--which hits stores April 17--features the cut "Survivalism," a multi-track version of which is available as a free download from the album's website. (The file is formatted to work on Apple computers outfitted with that company's GarageBand recording-studio software.) Reznor plans to make every track from the album available in the same fashion over the next few months, according to a message posted at NIN's website.
Also posted at the site are details for the just-announced batch of European shows.
Columbia Records has nailed down the details for Barbra Streisand 's forthcoming album, "Live in Concert 2006." The event supports Staples' forthcoming album, "We'll Never Turn Back," which is due out April 24.
Tickets for the shows, which are set for May 14-15, go on sale Saturday (3/31). Details are available at the venue's website.
"Theology," a new, two-disc collection from singer Sinead O'Connor, will land in stores June 26, Koch Records announced today (3/29).
"'Theology' is an attempt to create a place of peace in a time of war," O'Connor said in a prepared statement. "It is my own personal response to what has taken place and is affecting everyone around the world since and including September 11, 2001. I simply wanted to make a beautiful thing which inspires me."
