Eric Clapton brings back the Crossroads
Eric Clapton 's second Crossroads Guitar Festival will touch down in the Chicago area July 28 to host more than 20 guitar slingers, including Steve Winwood , B.B. King , Willie Nelson , Jeff Beck , Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy and John Mayer.
The day-long fest, dubbed "the ultimate Clapton collaboration," will take over Bridgeview, IL's Toyota Park. It is a benefit for Clapton's Crossroads Centre, a substance-abuse rehab facility in Antigua, West Indies.
"The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage," Clapton said in a statement. "The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect."
A list of artists confirmed to play the show is included below. Tickets, which cost $90, will go on sale to the general public Saturday (3/31). Members of Clapton's fan club website get first dibs.
The debut Crossroads fest, held three years ago in Dallas, sold out the Cotton Bowl and is chronicled in a two-disc DVD set that has gone eight-times platinum in the US, according to a press release.
Meanwhile, Clapton is wrapping up another North American leg of a world tour that began last May. He is currently in Canada and has a handful of US shows through April 6. Dates are listed below.
Slowhand's latest album, "The Road to Escondido," pairs him with his hero, J.J. Cale. The November release, which runs the spectrum of blues, rock, country and folk, is streaming at Clapton's website.
