Deftones to headline summer trek
Alt-metal rockers the Deftones will headline a nationwide US tour this summer after wrapping their international outing.
The Grammy-winning band will kick off domestic dates May 11 in Mesa, AZ, and so far have gigs booked through June, including two-nighters in Albuquerque, New Orleans and Salt Lake City. More shows will be announced soon, according to the group's website. Japanese hard-rockers Dir En Grey and Seattle trio The Fall of Troy , which has a new album due May 1, will open the shows. Details are listed below.
Having already made their way through Mexico, South America, Japan and Australia this year, the Deftones are currently playing several countries in Europe. They had to postpone three UK performances this week because frontman Chino Moreno was suffering from an ear-and-throat infection, according to the group's website. Those dates have already been rescheduled for late April.
Last October, the Deftones issued their fifth studio album, "Saturday Night Wrist," which was produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Jane's Addiction) and former Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. The second single from the record, "Mein," is streaming at the band's MySpace page.
"Saturday Night Wrist" followed the innovative band's 2003's self-titled set; a "B-Sides & Rarities" collection in followed in 2005.
