Steely Dan rolls out more dates
The band will start things off May 5 at Memphis, TN's Beale Street Music Festival and then give a headlining performance the next day at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Dates, which stretch through June 11, include two-night stands in Clearwater, FL; Boston; Upper Darby, PA; and New York City, where Steely Dan has two double shots (in May and June) at the Beacon Theatre. Details are listed below. Tickets are on sale now.
Following the US jaunt, Steely Dan will head overseas in July for its first European shows since 2000. Dates in the UK, France, Germany and Norway can be found at the group's website. More are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Steely Dan co-founders Donald Fagen and Walter Becker will bring their 10-piece band on the road, including drummer Keith Carlock, bassist Freddie Washington and guitarist Jon Herington. The set list will feature songs from their three-decade-plus career, and may also include samplings from Fagen's recently released "Morph the Cat" and Becker's upcoming solo set, which is due later this year.
Also due later this year is "The Best of Steely Dan: The Millennium Collection" (in October) and the "The Donald Fagen Trilogy Collection," which is scheduled to hit stores May 22.
The group's previous album, 2000's "Two Against Nature," was Steely Dan's first new studio release in 20 years and earned the band three Grammys in 2001, including Album of the Year. The group, which has seven platinum albums under its belt, was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that year.
