LeAnn Rimes Sues Her Father And Former Co-Manager

Teen country music star LeAnn Rimes has filed a lawsuit in Dallas County district court that accuses her father and her former co-manager of cheating her of more than $7 million over five years, according to the Dallas Morning News.

In a claim filed on May 2, Rimes alleges that her former co-managers--her father, Wilbur C. Rimes, and Lyle Walker--illegally the funneled money away from LeAnn Rimes Entertainment Inc., a company that the singer established in 1995. The suit says that her father and Walker received more than $8 million in royalties between 1996 and 1999, while she received just $3 million.

LeAnn Rimes' company broke from Wilbur Rimes and Walker in December, after the singer's mother, Belinda Rimes, hired accountants to investigate Wilbur Rimes' finances. Belinda and Wilbur Rimes divorced in 1997. The suit seeks unspecified damages because it is unclear how much money may have been misappropriated.
