Beale Street delivers diverse lineup
The lineup has been announced for the 2007 Beale Street Music Festival, which will host more than 60 acts on four stages May 4-6 at Memphis' Tom Lee Park.
The event, which is a musical tribute to the river city, features a diverse array of acts with Memphis roots. This year's lineup boasts talent from the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis to buzz rock bands Hinder and Taking Back Sunday . Blues great Bobby "Blue" Bland is on the bill along with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Allman Brothers Band .
John Legend and Corinne Bailey Rae will be among the newcomers to make their first appearance at Beale Street. Eddie Floyd, The Bar-Kays and Ann Peebles will also be on hand to help Memphis celebrate 50 years of soul music. The full list of acts is included below.
"This year's music festival is clearly one of our best," event chief Jim Holt said in a statement. "The lineup is huge and crowds can expect to enjoy more diversity than ever. We have assembled the legends of music with quite a few of the hot newcomers in rock and roll."
Tickets for the Beale Street Music Festival are on sale now at Ticketmaster outlets (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company). A three-day pass costs $59.50 through April and goes up to $75 thereafter. Daily tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
The Beale Street fest is part of the month-long Memphis in May celebration, which also includes the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, International Week (this year honoring Spain) and the Sunset Symphony. Details about all the events are available at the Memphis in May website.
