SXSW Performer: The Fratellis (Glasgow, Scotland)

Taking a cue from '70s glam rock, The Fratellis mix power chords, hand claps and unadulterated pop sensibility. "Most of the songs seem to be little conversation pieces to me," singer Jon Fratelli said in his bio. "They're almost always a little conversation between two people. That's the pleasure I get from writing them: I don't have to analyze them." The trio met at a Scottish carnival where they operated fairground rides like "dodge 'ems and cups." (Though all three members go by the surname Fratelli--a la The Ramones--Barry is the one true Fratelli in the group.) --Christina Fuoco-Karasinski

Performing 1 a.m. Thursday, March 15, Dirty Dog Bar, 505 E. Sixth St.
