SXSW Performer: Datarock (Bergen, Norway)
Quirky, creative and total do-it-yourselfers, Fredrik Saroea and Ketil Mosnes crank out electronica-infused pop rock reminiscent of Devo and the Talking Heads. Their quick-tempo concoctions like "FaFaFa" and "Computer Camp Love" bring that fun, old-school style back, but this time it's twisted with a slight modern-rock edge. Live shows lean toward adventurous, often with tens of people onstage dancing and playing with oversized props. Their debut album, released in 2005 and succinctly titled "Datarock Datarock," received impressive reviews. --Tara Hall
