Assault Charges Dropped Against Fred Durst

A Minnesota judge has dismissed disorderly conduct and simple assault charges against Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst . The decision puts an end to the criminal proceedings that stemmed from a 1999 onstage scuffle, following which a security guard accused Durst of kicking him in the head.

Durst’s attorneys are reportedly still attempting to hammer out a final settlement with security guard Pat Estes, who filed a civil suit seeking compensation for medical expenses, lost pay, pain and suffering and emotional distress.

Durst spent a night in jail after the July 1999 incident in St. Paul, Minn., which police said began with a dispute between one of Durst’s personal security guards and Estes. According to police, Durst’s guard was attempting to remove a fan who was climbing toward the stage, and Estes mistook the guard for another fan. Estes alleges that when he attempted to clear Durst’s guard from the area, Durst kicked him in the head.
