Patty Griffin 'Running Through' spring club trek

Folk singer/songwriter Patty Griffin has made good on an earlier promise, announcing an extensive set of dates this spring in support of her hot-selling new album, "Children Running Through."

The singer, who played a limited run of shows over the first couple months of the year, will kick off her next headlining stretch March 9 in Tucson, AZ. The 23-city outing will keep the Texas native busy through late April.

Griffin worked with producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon) on "Children Running Through," the follow-up to her 2005 effort, "Impossible Dream."

"I just wanted to write from the heart and let it be," Griffin said in a press release. "Some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard is when you catch somebody singing to themselves. I wanted to make music that had that feeling."

"Children Running Through" garnered Griffin her highest first-week sales totals ever following its early February release, according to her record label, with the disc selling more than 26,000 copies and entering The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 34.
