Robin Thicke takes his 'Evolution' to the road
Riding high on the success of his gold-certified sophomore solo album, R&B/soul singer Robin Thicke is hitting the road for gigs and radio station appearances in the US.
Thicke will spend the next few days in Las Vegas for the NBA All-Star Weekend before heading East for shows through March. Dates are listed below.
His latest release, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke," hit stores in October and currently sits in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's R&B Top 100 Albums chart while holding No. 6 on the Top 200 Albums chart. The Neptunes-produced set features guest artists including Faith Evans, Pharrell and Lil' Wayne.
The album's current single, "Lost Without U," is the most requested video at MTV and VH1, according to a press release. That song and a couple of others from the record are streaming at Thicke's MySpace page. The video for "Lost Without U" is streaming at his website.
Thicke (the son of actor Alan Thicke and singer/soap star Gloria Loring) is a self-taught pianist and a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer. At 16, with no formal training, Thicke began writing and producing music for artists including Brandy and Brian McKnight, according to his bio. He has since amassed dozens of gold and platinum albums with the likes of Usher, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera.
"The Evolution of Robin Thicke" follows 2003's "A Beautiful World," which was released under the artist's former stage name, Thicke. "The Evolution" is nominated for a Soul Train Award for Best Soul/R&B Album, and the singer will be on hand to perform at the March 10 ceremony.
