Rush returns with 'Snakes & Arrows'
Prog-rock power trio Rush will release its first new album in five years May 1 and will support the set with a full-scale North American tour this summer.
"Snakes & Arrows" is Rush's first collection of new material since 2002's "Vapor Trails." The band recorded the album last fall and shared production duties with Grammy-winner Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver). The first single, "Far Cry," is set to hit rock radio in mid-March.
Details about the tour will be announced in the coming weeks, according to a press release. The outing will be Rush's first North American jaunt since the group's 30th anniversary tour in 2004.
Last June, the Canadian rockers released "Rush - Replay x 3," a three-DVD/CD box set comprising footage from three concerts: 1981's "Exit Stage Left," 1984's "Grace Under Pressure" and 1987-88's "A Show of Hands." The DVD is a remastered version of previously available VHS releases from the 1980s.
The band's "R30" DVD set, which captures Rush's 2004 30th Anniversary Tour stop in Frankfurt, Germany, is up for Music DVD of the Year at April's Juno Awards.
The members of Rush--Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart--are known for their instrumental virtuosity and complex compositions. In their more than three-decade career, the Canadian Music Hall of Famers have achieved worldwide sales exceeding 35 million units, according to a press release.
