Amy Winehouse 'Back to Black' on US jaunt
Singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse will make a few US club appearances in March as she prepares for the North American release of her second album, "Back to Black."
The British singer, who recently was nominated for a pair of Brit Awards--Best Album and Best Female Vocalist--will turn up first in New York on March 13, before making a couple of appearances during the SXSW music festival in Austin, TX.
Winehouse will wind up her brief US outing with a pair of consecutive-night Los Angeles shows, beginning March 19.
"Back to Black," which hit UK stores last October, is Winehouse's follow-up to her 2003 debut, "Frank." The disc has held the No. 1 slot in the UK for the last two weeks, according to her publicist, selling a brisk 500,000 copies since its release.
Winehouse worked with two producers on her sophomore set, initially recording tracks with "Frank" producer Salaam Reemi in Miami before seeking out additional input from producer Mark Ronson (Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera).
"I'm not quite sure how the record turned out to sound so complete but I knew that when I decided to record it in a couple of weeks I wanted it to sound like it had been," Winehouse said in her online bio.
