Rod Stewart expands jubilant return to rock

Revamped rocker Rod Stewart , showing no signs of weariness from weeks of playing two-hour-long shows on his current arena tour, has added a few new dates into the mix since last check.

Stewart, whose "Still the Same ... Great Rock Classics of Our Time" netted the Scottish-born singer the fourth No. 1 album of his career late last year, is scheduled to appear tonight (2/8) in New York City, the first of several shows the singer has planned for the Big Apple.

The 61-year-old performer is in the midst of a four-month outing covering more than 50 cities. The tour kicked off back in January and is currently set to run well into May. Details are included below.

Stewart has been wowing audiences on his current tour, playing lengthy sets and delving deep into his back catalog, according to press reports, while performing on a rotating stage and accompanied by a nine-piece band.

Stewart's return to rock-and-roll follows his popular four-part "Great American Songbook" series of albums, a cycle inaugurated in 2002 with "It Had to Be You," and completed with last year's fourth volume, "Thanks For the Memory." All four discs achieved platinum status.

"Still the Same," which hit stores last October, features covers of rock standards originally performed by Bob Dylan ("If Not For You"), Van Morrison ("Crazy Love") and Bob Seger (the title song), among others.
