Staind's Aaron Lewis goes solo on US trek

While alt-metal rockers Staind take a break, band frontman Aaron Lewis has his solo-acoustic show on the road.

The Grammy-nominated singer played a few dates this month in California, Nevada and New York, and will do a two-night stand Feb. 9-10 in Atlantic City, NJ. A steady stream of club/theater shows begins March 1 in Royal Oak, MI, taking Lewis all over the US into April.

Armed with just his guitar, Lewis will play songs from the Staind catalog and take requests from fans. Confirmed dates are listed below.

Late last year, Lewis told MTV that he's working on his first solo album. He also told the network he is collaborating with reality-TV producer Craig Parmigiana ("Survivor," "American Chopper: The Series") for a series called "The Crew," which sheds light on the behind-the-scenes work that goes into setting up a concert.

Lewis mentioned that Staind has plans to record its sixth album, as well, but he doesn't know when.

The band issued "The Singles: 1996-2006" in November. The 16-track set comprises previously released hits including "It's Been Awhile," "For You," "So Far Away" and "Right Here," in addition to live acoustic covers of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," Alice in Chains' "Nutshell" and Tool's "Sober."

A companion DVD, "Staind: The Videos," features the complete collection of the band's music videos along with two bonus videos recorded live.

Staind's latest studio album, 2005's platinum-selling "Chapter V," was the band's third in a row to enter The Billboard 200 album chart in the No. 1 spot, according to a statement. Songs from that record are streaming at the band's MySpace page.
