Briefly: Avril Lavigne, Beck, Toni Braxton, Nickelback
RCA Records has nailed down an April 17 release date for Avril Lavigne 's third full-length studio album, "The Best Damn Thing."
The new set, which is the pop-punk singer's follow-up to 2004's triple-platinum "Under My Skin," will feature the lead-off single "Girlfriend," a track Lavigne co-wrote with Dr. Luke. The song's music video is scheduled to premiere Feb. 26, and the single will turn up at radio stations March 5, according to RCA.
A deluxe edition of Beck 's critically acclaimed 2006 album, "The Information," is due out Feb. 27, according to his publicist. Originally released as a single CD last October, the new version will comprise three discs: one audio CD containing the original set's 15 songs, as well as three bonus tracks; a second audio CD featuring remixes of several cuts; and a DVD housing homemade videos for each of the album's songs.
Toni Braxton has filed a lawsuit against her former manager, Barry Hankerson, for fraud and breach of contract, according to a press release issued by her attorney.
The suit claims that Hankerson "was guilty of a conflict of interest and fraud when he caused Ms. Braxton to leave Arista Records and join Hankerson's own label, Blackground."
Braxton is seeking $10 million in damages and a voiding of her Blackground Records contract.
Canadian rockers Nickelback will donate to charity all of the proceeds from digital sales of their new single and video "If Everyone Cared," according to a press release. Donations will be made to Amnesty International, as wella s International Awareness Canada, a charity that Nickelback guitarist Ryan Peake has supported for several years.
