Blues legend B.B. King [ tickets ] has been hospitalized in Galveston, TX, where he was scheduled to perform last night (1/25).

"King, 81, is in stable condition at John Sealey Hospital with a low-grade (100.4) fever, the result of a recent bout with the flu," reads a message posted at King's website. "Because of his age it was agreed that he would be kept overnight in the hospital but today he's cracking jokes and eager to get back to work."

The message goes on to say that doctors expect to release King tomorrow (1/27), after which he'll take a few days rest before resuming his tour schedule Tuesday (1/30) in Ft. Worth, TX.

Former Phish keyboardist Page McConnell [ tickets ] will release his self-titled debut solo album April 17, according to his label, Legacy Recordings.

"I started working on it about two years ago, not with an end goal in mind, but for the joy of the process," McConnell said in a prepared statement. "As the project evolved, I realized the songs held together as a body of work with some recurring themes, especially that of new beginnings. The last few years have been a time of great personal and professional transition, and I think that's reflected in the album."

McConnell's former Phish bandmates Trey Anastasio [ tickets ] and Mike Gordon made "significant contributions" to the album, according to a press release.

EMI Music has locked in a Feb. 13 release date for "Van Morrison [ tickets ] at the Movies: Soundtrack Hits," a compilation featuring 18 of the singer/songwriter's best-known songs that have been used in films. Tracks include "Moondance," "Brown-Eyed Girl," "Have I Told You Lately," "Days Like This," "Bright Side of the Road" and "Gloria, as well as Morrison's cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," which is used in the Oscar-nominated Martin Scorsese film "The Departed."

The album's release roughly coincides with Oscar week activities, which include a Feb. 22 event at which Morrison will be honored for his musical contributions to motion pictures. Scheduled to take place at the Wilshire Ebell in Los Angeles, the event--to be hosted by actress Roma Downey, and during which actor Al Pacino will present Morrison with an award--will feature a short performance from Morrison, whose song's have appeared in films such as "Thelma & Louise," "The King Of Comedy," "An Officer and a Gentleman," "Bridget Jones' Diary" and "Born on the Fourth of July," among others.
