James Taylor sets up multi-night runs in California

Singer/songwriter James Taylor will mount back-to-back, four-night engagements in San Francisco and Los Angeles in February before jetting off to England for a more extensive tour.

The singer will play four nights at San Francisco's Orpheum Theater beginning Feb. 13, then head down the coast to tackle four shows at the Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles. Taylor's complete UK itinerary can be found on his official website.

Taylor is not currently backing any particular recording ; his latest studio effort was last November's "James Taylor at Christmas," his second holiday-themed set following 2005's "James Taylor: A Christmas Album."

Jazz giant Dave Grusin produced 10 of the newer holiday album's 12 songs. The album's tracklist includes Taylor's interpretations of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," as well as a cover of Joni Mitchell's "River."

The singer's most recent collection of all-new, non-holiday material is 2002's "October Road." He recently told the Canadian Press that he expects begin recording a new set this summer.

Taylor is among the many big-name artists who recorded duets with Tony Bennett on "Tony Bennett: Duets/An American Classic," an album celebrating the legendary crooner's 80th birthday. The set hit store shelves last September.
