The Hold Steady hold out for another club trek

Indie rockers The Hold Steady , who have been busily touring behind their latest album since last September, have added a fresh leg of headlining dates to their schedule.

The band will kick off its upcoming slate March 6 in Baltimore following a round of February shows in Europe. The full European itinerary can be found at the group's website.

The Brooklyn quintet will also make a couple of appearances in January closer to home, including a Jan. 19 benefit concert in Asbury Park, NJ, on behalf of Brookdale Public Radio. A March 9 appearance at the Langerado music festival in Sunrise, FL, is also on tap. The three-day, outdoor festival features dozens of acts playing on several different stages, including Trey Anastasio, My Morning Jacket, The New Pornographers and others.

"Boys and Girls in America," which hit stores last October, was recorded in early 2006 and produced by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.). The album's title was taken from a line in Jack Kerouac's beat classic "On the Road," according to lead singer Craig Finn.

"The line goes, 'Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together,'" Finn recently told Billboard.com.

"Basically the songs are about guys and girls, and love. It's not a concept-type record like the last one. It's more of a theme record."
