Briefly: Neil Young, Joss Stone, Smokey Robinson, Fountains of Wayne, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Reprise Records has announced a March 13 release date for Neil Young 's "Live at Massey Hall," which captures the musician's Jan. 19, 1971 performance at the Toronto venue.
"This is the album that should have come out between 'After The Gold Rush' and 'Harvest,'" Young said in a press release. "David Briggs, my producer, was adamant that this should be the record, but I was very excited about the takes we got on 'Harvest,' and wanted 'Harvest' out. David disagreed. As I listen to this today, I can see why."
British soul-singer/songwriter Joss Stone is set to drop her third album, "Introducing Joss Stone," on March 20, according to Virgin Records. In a press release, Stone described the forthcoming set as "truly me."
"That's why I'm calling it 'Introducing Joss Stone,'" she said. "These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist."
Stone wrote the album alone during a stay in Barbados, then recorded the set in the Bahamas with her main collaborator and producer, Raphael Saadiq, who also plays bass on the album.
"Smokey Robinson : The Greatest Hits Live," a concert DVD that captures the Motown great during a 1998 performance in Las Vegas, is due in stores Jan. 30, according to a press release. The 17-song tracklisting includes classics such as "Tears of a Clown," "Shop Around," "I Second That Emotion" and "Tracks of My Tears."
Fountains of Wayne , who haven't offered up a new studio set since 2003's "Welcome Interstate Managers," will bounce back with the April 3 release of "Traffic and Weather." The album's first single, "Someone to Love," is scheduled to hit radio in late February, according to the group's publicist.
"Snow (Hey Oh)," the latest single from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' two-disc set "Stadium Arcadium," has earned the group the distinction of the most No. 1 hits on Billboard's Modern Rock Singles chart, according to Warner Bros. The track is the third "Stadium Arcadium" cut to top the chart, and is the group's 11th overall, dating back to 1991's "Give It Away," from the group's breakthrough album, "Blood Sugar Sex Magik."
