Lucinda Williams back out 'West' with new album, tour
Folk/country hybrid Lucinda Williams has set up a brief run of shows in early spring to back the release of her new studio album, "West," due in stores Feb. 13.
The singer/songwriter, a Louisiana native, will begin her trek March 6 in Tucson, AZ, and then begin moving eastward. The 14-city outing will eventually land in New York City for a March 23 show at Radio City Music Hall. Pre-sale tickets can be obtained for that show through Williams' website. The rest of her itinerary is included below.
"West," Williams' eighth studio album, was co-produced by Williams and Hal Wilner (Elvis Costello, Lou Reed), and recorded in Los Angeles. Guest musicians featured on the set include Bill Frisell, Jim Keltner, and Williams' long-time guitarist, Doug Petibone.
"West" follows 2003's "World Without Tears" in the singer's discography. That album received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album, and its single "Righteously" was nominated for Best Female Rock Performance.
The first single from the new album, "Are You Alright," is currently available as an iTunes download. Additionally, Williams offers streaming previews of four of the album's songs on her website.
