Papa Roach keeps US/Canadian dates coming

Nu-metal rockers Papa Roach have expanded their North American tour, which so far splits dates between the US and Canada from late January into March.

The outing kicks off Jan. 23 with a couple of shows in Oregon, and then it's off to the Great White North through Feb. 9. The band returns to the States Feb. 11 and weaves in a few more Canadian gigs along the way. It Dies Today and Kill Hannah open on select dates. The itinerary is listed below.

Papa Roach is touring behind its September release, "The Paramour Sessions," which was recorded in Southern California's historic (and said-to-be haunted) Paramour mansion. Silent-film star Antonio Moreno lived on the estate with his wife, oil heiress Daisy Canfield, who was killed in 1933 when her car plunged off a cliff. Canfield is buried on the property and some believe her ghost resides there.

The band members said the house had a mysterious presence that helped them reconnect musically and spiritually.

"For us, this house had a spirit about it," frontman Jacoby Shaddix said during a recent interview with LiveDaily. "There was something that was bigger than us. We have never jammed like we jammed when we got into this house. In the years and years that we've been playing together, we never stepped into a room and played for six, seven hours straight, just being creative. There were times I was just lyrically stuck, and I'd go down to Daisy's grave--the lady buried on the property there--and just write whatever comes to me. I wrote a song called 'Forever' down there, and also 'My Heart is a Fist.' When I'd get stuck, I'd walk around the property and go find the lyrics. ... We all went into the depths of our own fears and our own selves and ran from our fears, and faced our fears."

"Forever" and some additional cuts from "The Paramour Sessions" are streaming at the band's MySpace page.

"The Paramour Sessions," Papa Roach's fourth major-label release, follows 2004's "Getting Away With Murder," which saw the band drop its rap-rock style.

Shaddix recently told New-Noise.net that the band is going to record acoustic versions of some of its songs and possibly release them on iTunes.
