Briefly: Arcade Fire, Dispatch, John Mellencamp, Elvis
The Arcade Fire has nailed down a March 6 release date for its forthcoming sophomore album, "Neon Bible."
The new disc, which follows 2004's "Funeral," was recorded last year in Quebec, New York, Budapest and London, according to a press release. The group wrote, arranged, performed and self-produced all of the material.
As previously reported, The Arcade Fire will hit the stage next month for multi-night stands in Montreal and New York City.
Indie-rock icons Dispatch , who split in July of 2004, have announced plans for a July 14 reunion concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Dubbed "Dispatch: Zimbabwe," the performance will benefit charities that are "fighting disease, famine and social injustice in Zimbabwe," according to a message posted at the band's website. Additional details are available at the site.
John Mellencamp will premiere his new album, "Freedom's Road," in its entirety on SIRIUS satellite radio during a program that is scheduled to air Jan 17 on The Spectrum (channel 18), and again several times prior to the album's Jan. 23 release. Details are available at SIRIUS's website.
Image Entertainment has commemorated the 50th anniversary of Elvis Presley 's historic appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show" with its recent release of "Elvis: The Ed Sullivan Shows," a 3-DVD set that contains each of the three episodes on which Presley appeared.
Produced by Grammy and Emmy-award winning producer Andrew Solt, features re-mastered Dolby Digital 5.1 as well as the original mono soundtrack. Bonus footage includes a rare 8mm home movie shot in 1955 that is the first-ever recorded footage of Elvis, according to a press release.
Today (1/8) would have been Presley's 72nd birthday.
