Tim McGraw taps release date for 'Let It Go'

Country star Tim McGraw has set a March 27 release date for "Let It Go," the singer's first full album of original material in nearly three years.

McGraw recorded the 13-track album, which follows 2004's "Live Like You Were Dying," in Nashville, and co-produced the set with Byron Gallimore and Darran Smith. Backing him in the studio for the third consecutive album was his touring band, The Dancehall Doctors.

"I am really excited about this new studio album," McGraw said in a press release. "It was great to work with Byron Gallimore, Darran Smith and my band in the studio again and to build upon our work together."

The album's 13 tracks include the first single, "Last Dollar," written by Big Kenny of Big & Rich, which kicked off the New Year as the first video played by CMT in 2007. Other tracks include "I'm Workin'," "Let it Go," "Whiskey and You," "Suspicions" and two tracks featuring McGraw's wife, Faith Hill: "Shotgun Rider" and "I Need You."

McGraw and Hill's "Soul2Soul II Tour" grossed $88.8 million in North America last year, ranking behind the Rolling Stones and Barbra Streisand as the year's No. 3 top-grossing concert tour, according to concert-industry magazine Pollstar.

McGraw's last album, the 2006 best-of "Reflected: Greatest Hits V. 2," became his ninth consecutive album to debut in the No. 1 slot on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

The singer's previous studio album, 2004's "Live Like You Were Dying," has sold more than 4 million copies since its release, according to McGraw's record label.
