The Shins set for 'Wincing' return to road
Indie-pop darlings The Shins look set to make their return to the fold of working musicians with a two-week tour backing the Jan. 23 release of their new album, "Wincing the Night Away."
The New Mexico-bred popsters, who now call Portland, OR, home, will kick off their 10-date outing Feb. 8 in Minneapolis, and will follow its brief US trek with a Feb. 25 show at The Astoria in London. Details for the US shows are included below.
"Wincing the Night Away" is The Shins' third album, and the long-awaited follow-up to 2003's "Chutes Too Narrow." The group burst onto the scene with 2001's critically acclaimed "Oh, Inverted World."
Fans who pre-order the new album from the band's label will receive $2 off the price of the disc.
The album's first single, "Phantom Limb," is streaming on The Shins' website, and is also available as a free mp3 download from the Sub Pop site.
The band is scheduled to appear Jan. 13 on NBC's "Saturday Night Live," performing two songs: "Phantom Limb" and "New Slang," the latter from their 2001 debut.
