Briefly: Rush, Green Day, Jimmy Buffett, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill
Canadian rockers Rush are putting the finishing touches on their first new album since 2002's "Vapor Trails."
Drummer Neil Peart, in a lengthy missive on his website, writes that the tracks were recorded this year at Allaire Studios in upstate New York. Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighers, Velvet Revolver) co-produced the set.
"When we met Nick, we all liked his youthful, unbridled enthusiasm, but at 36, he was also experienced enough to have a strong background in music and recording," Peart wrote. "We agreed with the comments and suggestions he had for our new songs, and loved his excitement about them, so we signed him up."
Though no official release date has been announced, the as-yet-untitled album is expected to reach stores sometime next year.
Remastered versions of Green Day 's first two albums--1991's "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour" and 1992's "Kerplunk"--will be reissued Jan. 9 by the band's current label, Reprise Records.
The albums were originally released by influential Berkeley, CA-based indie label Lookout! Records.
Jimmy Buffett 's tour was Ticketmaster's "most requested concert" during 2006, based on online page views, information requests and ticket sales over the course of the year. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)
According to a Ticketmaster press release, the Top 5 was rounded out by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill 's Soul2Soul II tour, the Dave Matthews Band, The Cheetah Girls and Kenny Chesney.
Ranking at Nos. 6 through 10 were Shakira, American Idols Live, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and Tool.
