My Chemical Romance marches behind 'Parade'
Theatrical alt-rock band My Chemical Romance , which just finished a series of radio-sponsored holiday shows, has announced a US headlining tour in February and March.
Dates kick off Feb. 22 in Manchester, NH, and take the band across the country through mid-March with opener Rise Against. Additional dates with Muse filling the support slot are expected, according to a press release. Confirmed shows are listed below.
Before the US outing, My Chemical Romance is scheduled to play six shows, Jan. 19 - Feb. 4, at the Big Day Out festival in Australia and New Zealand alongside a slew of acts including Tool, Muse, The Killers and Jet. Those dates are on the band's website.
MCR is also set to headline the first day of the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, NJ, May 5.
My Chemical Romance's latest album, "Welcome to the Black Parade," debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart after its October release. MCR frontman Gerard Way described the album as the most "dramatic," "theatrical," and "completely over the top" work the band has ever done, calling it "borderline psychotic."
"When we started working on the record, all of these theatrical songs that were about life and death started to come out," Way said in a statement. "That's when we decided we wanted to throw all caution to the wind and aspire to make a huge record."
"Welcome to the Black Parade" follows MCR's double-platinum "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" released in 2004. A couple of songs from the new record are streaming at the band's website.
My Chemical Romance also released a 2 DVD/CD package called "Life on the Murder Scene" in March. One DVD chronicles the band's history and a second comprises music videos and live performances.
